2012 Halloween Costume Parade and Contest

We just finished participating in our annual costume parade and contest.  Our class won the prettiest and most original award among the second grade classes.  Congratulations!

Student of the Week for the Week of October 29, 2012

Congratulations to our Student of the Week.  She is safe, responsible and respectful.  She is a kind and considerate friend.  She comes to school everyday, on time, and is ready to learn.  She is a responsible learner.  She looks, listens, and pays attention.  She is focused, independent, does all of her work, and turns them in on time.  She is very respectful and polite.  Keep up the super work!

Student of the Week for the Week of October 22, 2012

Congratulations to our Student of the Week.  She follows the school's main focus, she is safe, respectful, and responsible.  She is safe in and out of the classroom.  She is kind to others.  She is doing well academically because she is proactive in her learning.  She takes responsibility in making sure she learns the lessons being taught.  Keep up the focus and great job!

Unit 1 Project - Friends and Family Skits

 We invited our Parents, students in room 204 (2nd graders) and students in Room 18 (Kindergarteners) see our skits on October 19, 2012.  It was in the auditorium, at 8:30 in the morning.

 Group 1 wrote a skit about brothers and sisters helping each other.

 Group 2 wrote a skit about students helping their teacher.

Group 3 wrote a skit about friends helping each other.

Group 4 wrote a skit about parents helping their children.

The students worked with their groups for four weeks.  Each student thought of a story and shared it with their group.  They each voted for a story and picked that for their skit.  They made up the characters, setting, and plot.  They wrote their scripts, rehearsed their skit, and painted their background.

We remembered our lines and did well!

We reached an API of 900!

To celebrate our 900 API we dressed up in our regular "smarty-pants" self!

Student of the Week for the week of October 15, 2012

September Student of the Month

Congratulations to our September Student of the Month.  She is safe, respectful, and responsible.  She excels in attendance, academics, and attitude.  She is a model student. She comes to school everyday ready to learn.  She takes responsibility in her own learning.  She looks, listens, and follows directions the first time they are given.  She is focused, does all of her assignments and turns them in on time.  She scores well in her assessments because of  her awesome study skills.  She volunteers to answer comprehension questions and contributes greatly to our class discussions.  Keep up the super-awesome job!

Today was Picture Day!  I'm so glad that we were all finally together; this is our class photo.  This picture was taken by me, Mrs. Rivera, before the photographer took the "real" picture.  I think the class looks marvelous!

Student of the Week for the week of September 3, 2012

Congratulations to our Student of the Week; he is a safe, respectful and responsible student.  He's safe, he plays safely and appropriately.  He stays in our play area and follows the rules of the game.  He's respectful, he listens to his teachers and follows directions the first time they are given.  He's responsible, he looks and listens to daily classroom lessons and tries to complete all of his work on time.  He stays focused on his tasks and always tries his best.  He keeps track of his materials and brings back his planner and homework envelope daily.  Keep up the hard work!

Class Picture

Our Class Picture will be posted soon, many of the students have been out ill and we have not had a chance to take a complete group picture.  Hopefully we can all rest and get better this weekend and be together again to take our Class Picture.

Music Class

Music class with Ms. Johnson.  We reviewed counting beats and rests, reading notes, and worked on the notes so and mi.  We learned two new songs, each having something to do about the sea and sailing.

Dance Class

Dance class with Mrs. Frauchiger.  We traveled then froze into a statue all within the count of 16.  We used high, medium, and low levels.  We took turns leaping over our partner.  We used scarves to dance in place as well as travel.  We have a dance journal where we enter what we learned after each lesson.

Congratulations to our Student of the Week, she is an excellent student.  She excels in the three A's, Attendance, Attitude and Academic.  Her attendance is awesome.  She comes to school everyday, on time, with all of her materials (homework and food), and is ready to learn.  Her attitude is remarkable.  She is very kind to her peers and teachers.  Her Academic performance is stellar.  She looks, listens, follows all directions the first time they are given, is proactive, and takes responsibility for her own learning.  Keep up the super hard work!
