Chuck E. Cheese Fundraiser Night

We had a lot of fun eating and playing at our Chuck E. Cheese Fundraiser Night! Many Delevan Drive students and their family came to support our school. Our Principal and teachers came too. Thank you Chuck E. Cheese for giving the teachers a free meal and giving the students 10 free tokens.

Student of the Week for the week of March 7, 2011

Congratulations to our Student of the Week for the week of March 7, 2011. She has been safe, respectful, and responsible. She has been safe, walking to and from her play area. She has been respectful to all of the adults and children in school. She listens and follows directions, the first time they are given. She has been responsible, she has tried very hard to do all of her work independently in class, and turn them in on time. Keep up the hard work!

Field Trip to The Page Museum and The Labrea Tar Pits

This is our first field trip. We went to The Page Museum and The Labrea Tar Pits. We learned a lot about fossils, ice-age animals, and the tar pits. We learned where the tar pits came from and how they were formed. We learned how and what fossils were found. This trip is a great unit opener. We will begin our next theme, Fossils, in two weeks!

2011 Dr. Seuss' Week

We celebrated Dr. Seuss' Week. There was a Wacky Animal Contest last week in honor of Dr. Seuss. One of our classmates won first place among all the second graders. She received a cool Dr. Seuss' t-shirt, a certificate, a pencil and a bookmark. We all got a paper Cat in the Hat hat. We got to write our name, in a silly way, on the front of the hat. We had a guest reader come to our classroom to read a Dr. Seuss' book. She read a story titled Gertrude McFuzz. She was one of Delevan's former teachers. She taught for LAUSD for 35 years!
